Does inWind WA Helper read my WhatsApp chat history?
No bulk scanning. The extension handles the message you select, plus opt-in auto-translate for visible incoming messages.
The short answer is no. The extension does not scan chats, contacts, chat lists, or message history in bulk.
There are two explicit paths where content leaves the page: the message you select from the menu, and auto-translate if you turn it on. Both are intentionally narrow.
What the message menu reads
When you choose an action from the message menu, the extension reads the single message you clicked: its text, one image, or one voice note.
It does not enumerate other messages. For voice, it reads the selected message's audio from the page player or the media cached for that message; if the audio is unavailable, you can choose a local file.
What auto-translate reads
Auto-translate is off by default. When enabled, it looks at the messages currently visible in the open chat and translates only incoming messages that are not already in your target language.
It does not read your outgoing messages, messages outside the viewport, or other chats in the sidebar.
What is stored locally
Translations, transcripts, and image-understanding results are stored in the extension's IndexedDB by message ID and source fingerprint, so the same content can be shown again without another model call.
Results expire after 90 days, at most 500 are kept, and you can clear them in settings. Original messages, audio, and images are not written to that result database.
What is sent to a model
Only the content needed for the action you requested is sent to the configured model or official service. With the official service, the request goes through wa.inwindoverseas.com and is forwarded to the configured model provider.
With a custom API, the request goes directly to the endpoint you configured. The extension never sends WhatsApp messages and does not read private message stores.
How to delete data
Use the settings action to clear saved translation and transcription results, or to delete local configuration and API keys. Uninstalling the extension clears extension storage.
Content already sent to a third-party model provider must be deleted under that provider's policy; the extension cannot delete it on your behalf.

- Use the message menu on one message, or turn on auto-translate in the side panel settings.
- Remember the limits: the menu reads only the selected message, and auto-translate reads only visible incoming messages.
- Open settings to clear saved translation, transcription, and image-understanding results.
- Revoke shortcut or PWA credentials on the account page, and sign out of the official service.
The extension does not scan chats, contacts, or history in bulk. It does not claim encrypted storage.
iPhone
- Share one message, one image, or one audio file to the inWind WA Helper shortcut.
- The shortcut handles only the item you share and does not read your chat list.
- Revoke the shortcut credential on the account page when you no longer use it.
Results appear on the shortcut result page. Content already sent to a model provider must be deleted under that provider policy.
Android
- Share one message, one image, or one audio file to the inWind WA Helper app.
- The app handles only the shared item and does not scan your chat list or gallery.
- Open the app settings to clear local history, then sign out of the official service on the account page if needed.
Native history stays on the device only. The app does not claim encrypted storage.
