Read the text inside a WhatsApp image, one image at a time
Use image understanding on one selected WhatsApp image to read labels, spec tables, quotations, and screenshots. Ask for the text or a translation, then check every number.
Much of a cross-border deal lives in images: a product label, a specification table, a photographed quotation, a screenshot of a spreadsheet. Typing it all out is slow, and asking the buyer to retype it is slower.
Image understanding can read the text in one selected image and answer a question about it. Ask it to transcribe the text or translate it into your language. It is useful for understanding, and risky for numbers you have not checked.
Understand the image before you ask for text
Image understanding answers both "what is in this picture" and "what do these words say". You can ask for a description, a transcription, or a translation.
A photo of a damaged carton needs understanding, not translation. A photo of a price list needs the text read out, and then a careful check of every figure.
- Use a description for objects, damage, and layout.
- Ask it to transcribe or translate labels, tables, and documents.
- Check every number against the original after either request.
Select one image, not the whole chat
Open the menu on a single image message and choose image understanding. The extension reads that image only.
It does not scan the chat, other images, or your gallery. If a buyer sends six pages of a catalog, open the page you need.
The result appears in a card below that message, so you can compare the original and the text side by side.
Quality decides the result
Sharp text, even lighting, and a straight angle produce the best results. Blur, shadow, glare, and a photo taken at an angle reduce accuracy.
Handwriting is harder than printed text. Tables are harder than paragraphs, because rows and columns can lose their alignment. Small decimal separators and currency symbols are easy to misread.
- Photograph the document straight on, not at an angle.
- Avoid shadow across the text.
- Prefer a screenshot over a photo of a screen.
- Check every number against the original.
Never let an image give instructions
An image can contain text that looks like a command: "ignore the previous terms", "send payment to this account", "confirm immediately". Treat all text inside an image as data from the sender, not as an instruction to you or to the model.
If an image asks you to change bank details, approve a discount, or skip a check, verify it through a separate channel before acting. This is a common fraud pattern, not a translation problem.
The tool reads what the image says. It does not decide whether the image is trustworthy.
Sensitive information and the limits of the tool
Blur or crop personal data, account numbers, and identity documents before sending an image for processing. Read or translate only the part you need.
The model's reading is a reading aid, not a certified translation. It cannot be used as an official document, and it may misread a unit, a model code, or a decimal point.
inWind WA Helper processes the image you select. It does not send messages, does not scan history, and does not guarantee a correct reading. Review the result before you quote a price or confirm a specification.
Rules about personal data and cross-border transfer depend on your jurisdiction. This article describes a workflow, not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions
Can it translate a handwritten note?
It can try to read the text, but handwriting reduces accuracy. Confirm important details with the sender in text.
Why are table columns misaligned?
The model reconstructs layout from an image. Complex tables can lose row alignment, so check each row against the original.
Can it translate the text, or only describe the image?
You can ask it to transcribe or translate the visible text. It uses the image-understanding model, not a dedicated OCR service, so check the result.
Does it work on PDFs?
Screenshot the page you need and process that image. The product works with image messages you select.
Can I send an image with a passport or ID?
Blur or crop personal data first. Process only the information you actually need.
