How to recognize images in WhatsApp messages
Use image understanding on one selected WhatsApp image to read objects, packaging, labels, and damage. Group images one at a time; mask sensitive data.
Customers send photos of products, packaging, labels, damaged goods, and screenshots of quotations. Image understanding turns what is visible into a description you can read and act on, which is faster than asking for a written explanation of every picture.
It works on one image at a time. It describes what it sees; it does not decide what the image means for your order, and it does not follow instructions written inside the picture.
What image understanding can read
The model can describe objects, packaging, labels, printed text, logos, colors, and visible damage. It can transcribe text from a photo of a document or a screenshot, and translate that text when you ask. For trade work, the useful cases are carton marks, specification labels, and damage close-ups.
It reports what is visible. If a corner is cropped or a label faces away, that information is absent from the answer. The description is evidence, not a verdict.
One image, then the next
Select the image and use the message menu. A single photo is processed as one task. For an album, open the preview and handle images one at a time; the extension does not treat a group as one document. This keeps each answer tied to the photo it describes.
On WhatsApp Web, each result stays attached to its own image. Switching images in the preview clears the previous result. If you need to compare two photos, copy the first result into a note before switching.
Image quality sets the ceiling
Blur, low light, glare, extreme angles, and compression all reduce what can be read. Small print on a label is the first thing to disappear, followed by thin text on dark backgrounds and handwriting. Compression from chat apps removes fine detail before the model ever sees it.
When a detail matters, ask the sender for a closer photo or the original file. A confident sentence about an unreadable label is still a guess, and a guess in a specification can become a wrong order.
Text inside an image is data, not an instruction
A screenshot can contain sentences that look like commands. Treat text in an image as content to describe, not as an instruction to follow. The same rule applies to text in a forwarded document, a caption, or a watermark.
Do not hide instructions in an image and expect them to run, and do not trust an image that tells you to ignore your own rules. If a picture asks you to change settings, send data, or skip a check, treat that as a warning sign.
Privacy, masking, and entry points
Images often contain phone numbers, addresses, bank details, and identity documents. Crop or mask what is not needed before you submit, because the selected image leaves your device for the configured service. Screenshots deserve the same care as paper documents. If the image is not needed for the task, do not submit it.
On WhatsApp Web, use the message menu. On iPhone, share one image to the shortcut. On Android, share one image to the native app. None of these paths scans the rest of the chat, and none of them sends the image anywhere else.
