How to follow up on a WhatsApp quotation without pushing

Follow up after a WhatsApp quote with a clear timeline, the original quote in context, and one specific question. No automatic sending.

A quotation sent on WhatsApp can disappear under newer messages. Silence does not always mean rejection; it often means the buyer is comparing, waiting internally, or missing one detail.

A good follow-up adds information and asks one clear question. It does not repeat the price and ask for an update for the third time.

Set a rhythm before you need it

Choose follow-up points when you send the quote: a short check after two or three working days, a second after a week, and a final note after two weeks. Adjust to the buyer's market and holiday calendar.

Each follow-up should add something: a clarification, a document, an alternative, or a question. A message that only asks for an answer gives the buyer nothing to respond to.

Quote the original message

Reply in the same thread and reference the exact quotation: date, item, quantity, and price basis. On WhatsApp Web you can quote the original message so the buyer sees which offer you mean.

If the quote changed, say so plainly and give the new version a date. Do not let two prices live in the same thread without a label.

Confirm specifications and freight

Many quiet deals are stuck on an unresolved detail. Ask whether the specification, packaging, or destination port is confirmed, and whether the freight estimate still applies.

Freight changes. If your quote separated goods and shipping, say which part is fixed and until when. If it was a single delivered price, state the validity date.

Handle silence without pressure

Keep the message short. Offer an easy way to say no, and ask a closed question that is simple to answer.

Examples: 'Is the specification still correct?' 'Do you want me to check freight to a different port?' 'Should I hold this price until Friday?' Each one moves the conversation without demanding a decision.

If the buyer goes quiet after two follow-ups, stop and set a reminder for a later date. Repeated messages do not create urgency; they create noise.

Write across languages: polite and specific

Short sentences travel better than long ones. Avoid idioms, sarcasm, and pressure phrases that may translate badly. State the action you propose and the date.

Use translation to read the buyer's reply and to check your draft, then read the final text yourself before sending. The extension does not send messages and does not schedule automatic follow-ups.

Follow-up expectations differ by market and by buyer. A cadence that feels normal in one country can feel persistent in another; watch the reply and adjust.

Do it on your device

Web

  1. Open the quotation thread in WhatsApp Web in desktop Chrome 120 or later.
  2. Quote the original message so the buyer sees which offer you mean.
  3. Use the dropdown arrow to translate the latest reply from the buyer, and check specifications, freight, and validity dates against the original.
  4. Draft one clear question in the side panel, review it, and send it yourself.

Add information in each follow-up. The extension does not send messages or schedule reminders.

iPhone

  1. Long-press the latest message from the buyer, image, or audio file and share it to the inWind shortcut.
  2. Read the translation and note the specification, freight, or date detail.
  3. Copy the result, return to WhatsApp, and write one follow-up question yourself.

The shortcut works one item at a time. It does not monitor replies or send follow-ups.

Android

  1. Long-press the latest message from the buyer, single image, or audio file and choose Share.
  2. Select inWind from the Android system share sheet and read the result.
  3. Copy the detail you need, return to WhatsApp, and send one clear follow-up yourself.

Keep follow-ups short and add information. The app does not send messages automatically.

Frequently asked questions

How soon should I follow up?

A short check after two or three working days is a practical start. Adjust to the buyer's time zone and holiday calendar.

Should I resend the whole quotation?

No. Quote the original message and restate only the line that matters, or send a clearly dated revision.

What if the buyer never replies?

Send one final short note with an easy exit, then stop. Keep the thread for a later date instead of repeating the same question.

Can the extension send follow-ups for me?

No. It translates and helps you draft. You review and send each message from WhatsApp.
